Prior to joining Scope Group, Garrn, as founder and managing director, developed Euler Hermes Rating GmbH into a renowned provider of Mittelstand and project finance ratings, gaining acceptance among European issuers and investors alike. In his new role, Garrn will shape Scope’s transformation based on digital technologies that are changing the industry in groundbreaking ways.
Before this, Garrn worked in Europe and the US advising financial services firms on IT and risk management. Later he held management roles at BMW Group and Allianz. Garrn studied business administration with a minor in computer science at today’s Leuphana University of Lüneburg before completing his MBA at the James Madison University in the US.
“Garrn is one of the innovators driving the rating industry’s digitalisation,” says Florian Schoeller, founder and CEO of Scope Group. “That is exactly what makes him interesting and valuable for Scope.” He adds: “We consider the group’s digital structure to be a future-oriented focal point.” Schoeller views Garrn’s appointment as a positive sign, also for the many investors who have come to know and appreciate his work over the decades.
His experience in the rating field, combined with his establishing and development of IT-supported risk management, internet platforms and web-based products, makes Garrn ideal for the post of Managing Director who will develop Scope Group in the wake of the industry’s digitalisation. Since 2012, Scope has been pushing ahead with the establishment of a European rating agency as an alternative to the US agencies. Over 200 employees now work for the group at seven European locations: Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Oslo and Paris.
